A girl flying a bright kite on Paraparaumu beach beneath flowering pōhutukawa

The Sun and the Weather

At Paraparaumu, where waves kiss the shore,

The Sun and the Weather began to implore.

“I am the mightiest!” boasted Weather so grand.

Sun smiled, “I illuminate every land.”

Down on the beach, a girl’s kite took flight,

Weather proposed, “Let’s test our might.

Make her release, then surely we’ll see,

Who’s truly stronger, you or me?”
